Poem 9

HER KIDS

I was so glad when I first had a son
I could teach him the sports
How to catch and to run.

The less important things in his life
Like talking, and washing
I left for my wife.

My next child was a beautiful daughter
I could bounce on my knee
And swim with in the water.

Other things that she would have to do
Like manners and dressing
Were my wife’s job too.

Now my next child again was a boy
More sports and more fun
Oh, what a joy.

Eating and using a fork and a knife
And other little lessons
Would be taught by my wife.

Now the funs over, the children are grown
And it does me no good
To sit back and moan.

But as I look back on each kids life
I realize they turned out
Just like my wife.
